ABCUSD Expanded Learning Program - After School

The ABC Unified School District offers the ABC EXCELS Programs at all elementary and middle schools, TK-8th grades, giving students a structured afternoon with homework time, hands-on learning activities and enrichment, and sports/recreation.

ABC EXCELS is made possible through the following funding sources:
  • After School Education Safety (ASES) grant (free for students who attend ASES sites)
  • Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (unduplicated pupils are free - English learners, foster youth, and low-income students)
  • Family fees (for students who are not at ASES sites and are not considered unduplicated pupils)

The program focuses on four components:
  1. Nutritious Snack - Students will receive a snack each afternoon.
  2. Homework Support - Students will have structured time to complete homework assignments and get help when needed.
  3. Educational Enrichment - Students will have fun with hands-on learning activities, including social-emotional learning and Science, Technology, Engineering, Visual & Performing Arts, and Math projects.
  4. Physical Activity - Organized sports and team-building activities will be offered.
