ABCUSD Expanded Learning Program - After School

The ABC Unified School District offers the ABC EXCELS Programs for families needing after-school care for their children. ABC EXCELS offers programs for TK-8th grade students, giving them a structured afternoon with homework time, hands-on learning activities, and sports.

ABC EXCELS consists of two free programs (for those who qualify) - After School Education Safety and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program - and a fee-based Extended Day Program offered to all families.

The program focuses on four components:
  1. Nutritious Snack - Students will receive a snack each afternoon.
  2. Homework Support - Students will have structured time to complete homework assignments and get help when needed.
  3. Educational Enrichment - Students will have fun with hands-on learning activities including social-emotional learning and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math projects.
  4. Physical Activity - Organized sports and team-building activities will be offered.

Days and Hours of Operation
ABC EXCELS operates after school each day when school is in session. The program ends at 6:00 p.m. for most schools and at 6:15 p.m. for late-start schools. Some schools will offer fee-based morning programs beginning at 7:00 a.m. ABC EXCELS will not operate during holidays, non-student days, or during the fall, winter, and spring breaks.
